Overview

Arcanum Vivis is the codified body of research developed under the direction of Councillor Strix Stonegut, formerly Subject 12-B of the Pyraxian Draconid Series. The project’s purpose is the empirical identification, induction, and suppression of the subject’s conduit to the Warp, the extradimensional source of all arcane potential.

This thesis asserts that arcane magic stems from a tangible resonance, a physical link between the one’s biology and the Warp. This link acts as a channel, allowing chaotic energy to leak into our reality. Through precise intervention, this conduit can be surgically created in “null” subjects or permanently severed in existing casters.

Foundational Principles

  1. The Warp as an External Source
    Arcane magic is not an internal gift but an external force channelled through a biological anchor point. The subject is a vessel, not a source.

  2. Induction by Sympathetic Rupture
    Through alchemical catalysts, resonant frequencies, and invasive surgery, a temporary rupture to the Warp can be forced open in a “null” subject. Success rate: 2.7%. Survival rate: 0.4%.

  3. Suppression by Conduit Severance
    The link can be permanently severed through neural surgery, rendering the host inert. It’s still to be determined whether the subject can survive long term from the effects of the surgery.

  4. The Manufactured Conduit Hypothesis
    A stable, artificially-induced link is theoretically possible, creating loyal artificial magi, living weapons for the Empire.

Ethical Directives

Per Edict XXIII, research under Arcanum Vivis is exempt from the Regulation of Sentient Welfare. Experimental subjects are legally reclassified as Material Assets during active study and may be retained or terminated at the Quorum’s discretion.

Notable Outcomes

  • Successful induction of stable and temporary arcane resonance in null subjects (32-B, 33-B, 56-A, …, 75-A, 120-B). All subjects expired or were terminated post-manifestation.

  • Complete reversal of innate magic, followed by subject death (55-A). Subject expiration occurred 72 hours post-procedure due to systemic failure.

  • Synthesis of a null alloy, a metallic substance that disrupts the Warp link upon physical contact, enabling the safe containment of magical entities.

Addendum: Imperial Oversight

Following the execution of Voll Thebrus for treason, Arcanum Vivis was placed solely under Councillor Strix’s command. All secondary Quorum members are bound by their oaths of silence, forbidding dissemination of data beyond the Quorum. Failure to comply renders one a permanent reassignment as a Material Assets for future experiments by the Councillor.
